The black dress was worn by Zuzu Angel at the final moments of her political protest fashion show, featuring the International Dateline Collection II, which took place in 1971, at the residence of Lauro Sotello Alves, the Brazilian Consul in New York. The look was composed by a crucifix belt, a necklace with a white angel and a headscarf that revealed her state of mourning. According to Hildegard Angel, this is an allegorical look, which includes a headscarf, shawl and necklace. After the show, Zuzu Angel wore this dress in several public spaces. A replica was made for the “Museu Histórico Nacional” (National Historic Museum), which took place in 1996. [20/01/2017 Hildegard Angel statement]

Clothes description:
Long dress, made of tiled black silk and long sleeves. Sleeves with a frown on the shoulders, straight V cleavage, slightly rounded. Hems and wrists are hand sewn, with the hem having a gimp thread. Closing at the back with brackets and a 0, 53 cm zipper. On the inside, there is a metal snap button at the height of the shoulders with a part being stuck to the piece and another on a strap sewn to the piece.

Description of complementary clothes:
Zuzu Mourning headscarf: Headscarf made of black silk muslin, with a hand made hem.
Zuzu Mourning shawl: Shawl made of tiled black silk with fringes. The fringes were hand sewn and the silk is machine sewn with a straight seam. There is a patch made of the same fabric on one of the extremities.
Zuzu Mourning belt: Metal belt with a chain, hoops, 2 buoy latches and crucifixes in two different sizes: 0, 5 cm and 0, 7 cm. The word “Fátima” is written on the back of the smaller crucifix. The crucifixes alternate sizes, side by side, all along the chain. At the center, the crucifixes are arranged in a gradual manner, becoming bigger at the center.
Zuzu Mourning necklace: silver necklace with flowers and an angel in: pink, blue, green and orange. The angel is proned at the center of the piece, holding a bouquet of flowers over a 0, 14 cm metal support with leaves details. Around it, there are flowers and leaves, as well as underneath the three pendants, which are 0, 5 cm each, right below the angel. The metal chain is 0, 15 cm long and has little blue balls. The latch is of a buoy style.
