Report taken from the site: https://www.lilianpacce.com.br ›moda› stylists-brands To commemorate the centenary of stylist Zuzu Angel (she was born on 06/05/1921 and was murdered in 1976), Itaú Cultural transformed the exhibition “Ocupação Zuzu“, which took place physically in 2014 (remember here), into a great virtual tour with right to new content, such as an entry in the Itaú Cultural Encyclopedia. In addition, she has conversations with Virginia Siqueira Starling, who is writing Zuzu's biography, and the Minas Gerais stylist Ronaldo Fraga, who paid her tribute to the stylist in two editions of the SPFW, in 2001 and 2020. One of the first to export Brazilian fashion, Zuzu turned clothing into an instrument of resistance during the military dictatorship (1964–1985) in Brazil. Born in Curvelo, Minas Gerais, she married the American Stuart Angel. After living in Bahia, they moved to Rio de Janeiro, where she opens a studio at home, already separated from her husband and with three children. There she is close to names like First Lady Sarah Kubitschek (1908–1996) and gains a local society with her work, gaining the international market with the help of actress Joan Crawford. His collections brought elements of national culture, such as the outlaw couple Lampião and Maria Bonita, at a time when Paris predominated as a reference. In 1971 everything changed with the death of his son, Stuart Angel, aged 26, a target of the military dictatorship. Zuzu then finds in fashion a way to denounce Stuart's disappearance. In the virtual occupation, it is possible to get a closer look at Zuzu's brilliant work, his revolutionary posture and the story of a mother in search of justice for her son.
